Applied African Speculative Fiction

African speculative cultures harbour an extraordinary wealth of thinking about science, technology, climate, ecology, power, knowledge, and the future of life together on our planet. Yet these narratives have often been treated as ‘alternatives’ to be contemplated and admired, rather than living resources capable of directly transforming education, policy, research, activism, and organizing.

Applied African Speculative Fiction seeks to change the terms of that relationship. Bringing writers into collaboration with scientists, educators, and researchers, this vibrant toolkit-slash-anthology brings together vibrant original fiction, modern classics highly deserving of republication, together with essays, commentaries, and activities.
